Another Celebration!

Last night at CGCC ceramics studio Alvin celebrated his new position with his long time students that have registered for his classes time after time. Some have been with him since he started for CGCC 12 years ago. Unfortunately for the students, new rules exist at the college and students aren't able to just go in and work all year long like they have done in the years past. So, last night being the last class until August 21 they celebrated with a pizza party. Pizza individually assembled and then fired in the kiln has been something he does at least once every few years. I had planned a BBQ dinner and I was requested to change the menu to pizza. The party had a dual purpose I understand - the group thought they needed to make pizza soon, to 'annoint' the kiln. It seems the new kiln has not been firing well ... and were certain this would be the answer to the not so perfect firings. The party was a success so I am sure the "kiln god" will think so too.

Of course our grandkids had to come. Alvin is helping them stretch the dough.

The pizza in the new kiln! He only burned two this year - believe me that is a big improvement!

Cooper made breadsticks instead of a pizza.

Chandler is the biggest helper these days.
