The Birthday Princess!

A very happy first birthday to Tatum! It has been a fun year watching her grow from this:

to this:

Chandler and Cooper you are good big brothers to her and have taught her much. She can belch as loud as you (and than giggles), she can blow her nose, she can blow her hot food, she can wrestle and growl (such a girl), and she dances to the Phoenix Suns music. What a sweety and we love her!

Family fun in the snow

Gretchen rented a cabin in Payson for Cooper's birthday present and we all had a great time. Gretchen, Chandler, Cooper and I left Chandler around 1:00 so we could find the cabin and grocery shop before Chelsea, Stephen and Tatum arrived. They couldn't leave until after 5 when Stephen got off work. Alvin had to work on Saturday so he couldn't go at all and I felt really bad leaving him home but gosh I didn't want to miss the fun! But, it was so much fun on Saturday that I called Alvin at 4:15 and suggested that he might want to come up and have some fun too. To my surprise he said YES and was at our cabin by 7:00 that evening.

Saturday and Sunday we went to the gravel pits north of Payson for sledding down the hills. Saturday the snow was powder and on Sunday the snow was ice so we experienced different fun each day. We took so many pictures that it has been hard to choose which ones to show. Each one has a special touch! These are some of my favorite pictures.

Tatum - some fun but not the sled!

Cooper's fun!

Chandler had the MOST fun!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day. I just received a bouquet from my valentine of nearly forty years. I guess it is from Alvin - the card was signed "secret admirer" so I guess he will claim that he sent it when he comes homes.

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Even though you are having to share your special day with Cooper at his birthday party I hope you are having a great day. You are truly an unselfish mom to share your day so Cooper can have a fun party. We are proud of all you have accomplished in your life. You are not only a great mom but a great daughter and we love you and all the joy you have brought into our lives.

Stuffed Chickens

I have two stuffed chickens, that once belonged to my mother, sitting on my ledge in my kitchen and they are often conversation pieces. Stephen makes fun of them and others think they are pretty gross but the grandkids are always asking why I have them and non stops "why, why, and why."

Todays conversation with Chandler went like this. Were they really real? How did they die? Why do you have them? How did they get stuffed? Gretchen answered most of the questions the best she could and than Cooper came up with the best answer of all on how they were stuffed. He said, "they just tape up the bootie' so the stuff won't fall out."

Yes, I know they are dusty. They usually get vacuumed a couple of times a year and I am obviously long overdue with that task. I wonder myself why I have them and than I remind myself that it is part of my up-bringing. When I was very young, maybe eight or so, I went with my family to a barn dance at a feed store in Chandler and I won in a drawing 50 baby chicks. My brother Tug actually wanted these chickens so he gave me money (I think $25.00) to increase his already started egg delivery business. Of course it took a while for them to start laying eggs but in the end he had a pretty good egg business that I helped him with. So, nothing wrong with having gross things around that remind you of good times. Right?
